The Foundation stone for The Chapel, was laid down by W. Ellingworth, J.P., on February 28, 1888. The church building itself is in the Gothic style, and has an elaborate ornamental façade at the front.

The Chapel is made of brick, with a corrugated iron roof. It was completed in 1888, at a cost of £769. The timber vestry at the rear of the church was built in 1911, while the front porch was built in 1940.

The main church building itself dates from 1867, and in these early days in Lilydale, it shared a place with other churches, on what was known as “Church Hill”.

The Church Hall is made of cement brick, which is rendered and hand-made, and it is topped by a corrugated iron roof. The Hall was used as the first church in the area.
